Jake Canter of the United States wins a bronze medal in the Olympic men’s snowboard slopestyle.

Jake Canter from the United States had to wait what probably seemed like a thousand years to see whether he would finish on the podium in the men’s snowboard slopestyle at the Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

After his last run, in which he scored 79.36, Canter came in third. But he still had to wait for Mark McMorris from Canada, Marcus Kleveland from Norway, and Dane Menzies from New Zealand to finish their runs before he could celebrate.

Canter saw McMorris fall hard to the ground on his final leap from the bottom of the slope. Kleveland had a great last run, but he only got a score of 78.86. Menzies was the last snowboarder to go, and he fell and lay on the ground in shock.

Canter eventually cheered when he found that he had won the bronze medal.

The gold medal went to Su Yiming from China while the silver medal went to Taiga Hasegawa.

Canter won his first Olympic medal in the Winter Olympics. He was able to represent Team USA on the world stage after winning a World Cup competition in Aspen, Colorado, during the 2025-26 season. He beat Su and Menzies in that tournament.

In March, the World Cup season will start up again in Flachau, Austria, and Sivapalan, Switzerland.

The last time the U.S. won a medal in this event at the Olympics was in 2018, when Red Gerard brought home the gold. Gerard finished in sixth place on Wednesday.
